A-Z Blogging Challenge: X is for X-files..

letter-x-iconX is for X-files. Those of you who know me are not surprised at all that I chose one of my favorite television series to represent the letter X. My love of this series started back in the late 90’s. I was living out of the country when this series began and discovered it I think in season 4. I was able to watch all of the back seasons and catch up to the current one very quickly.

I fell in love right away with Mulder, Scully, Skinner and The Lone Gunmen. Such good memories. Sigh. I used to have X-Files parties about once or twice a year. I’d get together with about 10 or so of my friends who also liked it and we’d either watch funny episodes or mythology episodes, etc. Once I even wrote my own X-File for us to solve and had a few friends dress up like Mulder and Scully.

I really don’t think there has been a series to rival the X-Files. Some have tried like Bones by I think the only one to come close enough was Fringe.

I have a lot of “alien” stuff around my house too. We have an X-Files clock. I have the barbie dolls of Mulder and Scully. I’ve been to Roswell, NM and visited the crash site. I have a sticker on my car made by my husband. I have aliens at my desk at work. Here are some fun shots.

Some of my favorite quotes are:

  • Trust No One.
  • Believe The Lie.
  • Sorry, nobody down here but the FBI’s most unwanted.
  • I would never lie. I willfully participated in a campaign of misinformation.
  • I’ve heard the truth, Mulder. Now what I want are the answers.

There are two movies that came out about the series. One was like a long episode in-between seasons and the second was more like an X-file than dealing with the alien mythology. I loved both of them. A new friend and I were recently talking about the movies. I would like them to go back to the mythology and tell us what happened to their son William. Did he end up with special abilities? Is he a successful hybrid? Still so many questions. Come on Chris Carter! Help the fans! 🙂

Do you have a favorite television series? If so, what is it? What about the series makes you love it so?

I’m so glad you wrote about the X-files. Thanks to Netflix my wife and I have started from the beginning and are re-watching the series. I echo your statement that nothing has rivaled it so far. My wife liked it so much that she insisted on watching the final episode while in labor at the hospital with our first child twelve years ago this month.

That is so awesome that you watched the final episode during labor! I watch LOTR at the hospital and listened to Enya and Dead Can Dance with both girls. 🙂 We are going to have an X-Files themed party sometime in the next few months. I’ll be sure to invite you both! Good times with Mulder and Scully.
