WonHundred Word Wednesday: Teaching

I’ve been out on maternity leave so I am behind on the word prompts but I am excited to start up again.

The writing prompt for this week is: He hadn’t seen anything like it in twenty years of teaching.

Gerald wondered why he even tried anymore. It’s not as if they listened or gave him the respect he deserved. After all, he’d spent years attaining his degrees and what did he have to show for it? Student loans.

With a heavy sigh Gerald reluctantly left his office to go to class. His love of teaching was going down the toilet. He hadn’t seen anything like it in twenty years of teaching. Not one student answered any questions he asked. Nor did they do their homework. And today was the kicker.

No one showed up for class. Who does that?

Check out the other great stories! And come back each Wednesday for a new prompt.

I’ve been in so many classes and have done training sessions where the “students” don’t listen or disrespect the instructor. Lame. I hope that never happens to you!

  2. I feel so bad for him.

  3. no one came? I’d be checking my clock and calendar to see if I was confused. Poor guy.

Welcome back! I feel bad for the guy. Teachers are one of the undervalued professions for sure.

Thanks Jessica! It’s good to be back. I’ve missed being online with a purpose. I loved all of my teachers. And I agree that it is undervalued for sure. Although some teachers, at least in higher ed, are not great. They shouldn’t be teaching.
