I thought it might be a good idea to tell you a little about myself so that you get the chance to know who R.K. Grow is. If you have any questions for me you can always place a comment below and I will be sure to answer them.
What does the R.K. in your name stand for?
My first name is Rebekah and my middle name is Kevin. Anytime I tell someone my middle name they are always interested in the story behind it. I was named after my Uncle Kevin who died when he was young. In fact half of my sisters have boy middle names and we are all named after male relatives in our family. I still to this day think it was a way for my dad to have boys in the family. 🙂
Do you have any siblings?
I have four other sisters but no brothers. It was definitely fun growing up with just girls. We did the usual cat fighting and borrowing each others clothes without asking but in the end fiercely loyal and loving towards one another.
What is your favorite color?
I love love love green and purple and white.
Do you have a favorite quote or saying?
There are way too many that I love but this is one I have on my computer desk at work. “One must tread the path that need chooses.”- Gandalf
Twizzlers or Red Vines?
Red Vines for sure! I just love the taste and I do not favor one color over the other. I like both the red and black. I love the family mix that you can buy. I love to eat them best when they are soft.
Do you have any children?
Yes. I have two lovely daughters. My husband is somewhat sad because he was hoping for a son in there.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I didn’t think there was such a thing as spare time when you are a parent! 🙂 I love to throw parties. We just had an LOTR marathon getting ready for The Hobbit on December 14th. I love to play the piano. I love to go on long walks. I love to go hiking. I love to snow shoe in the winter. I love love to watch movies and listen to music. I love working in my yard. It helps to calm me and clear my head. I love to create things. Not crafts but websites, graphics, etc.
Do you have a favorite artist?
My all time favorite is William Waterhouse. I love his Ophelia, Boreas and Lady of Shalott. I also love Renoir, Gustav Klimt, Monet, Van Gogh, and old Soviet poster art. I really love landscapes and portraits and trees.
If you were shipwrecked on a desert island what 3 books would you want with you?
This is a great question. I would have to say that the Bible or the Book of Mormon doesn’t count towards the 3. I would absolutely have a copy of the Lord of the Rings trilogy by Tolkien. I would have My Name is Asher Lev by Chaim Potok and the other book I would have with me is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. I really wish this question was the 5 books I would bring because I could add at least 2 more to this list.
What book are you about to start reading?
I am about to start reading an copy of Dissension by Adrienne Monson. It’s the first book in her Blood Inheritance Trilogy. I am so excited. This will be the second review I have done for an upcoming book for a publisher. Look for my review to hit the blog in February before her book is released.
Do you belong to a writing group?
Yes. I started one with my friends in 2003 and we called ourselves The Metaphor’s. We’ve been off over the years here and there due to weddings and kids but we have had some great success with our group. Two of our members are published authors now. It’s been an invaluable experience for me.
Are you currently working on a writing project?
This could be a trick question. I feel like I am always working on a writing project. Right now I am finishing up the last chapters in Letters to Ellie and hope to send it out to my beta reading group the end of December. This book is probably a fictional narrative.
What are you watching on TV right now?
I really love science fiction and fantasy so I am watching Fringe, Grimm, and Once Upon a Time. I also like Castle and Bones although now that the love interests are together it’s not as good. I was watching the Vampire Diaries but it just got too raunchy.
What was the last movie you saw?
We rented the movie Brave and watched it with our kids.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little about me. There were so many questions I ended up with that I could’ve talked for hours. 🙂 Have a wonderful week.
