My Writing Goals for 2013

It’s only been 2013 for a few days now and I am already thinking about my writing goals for the new year. Some of them I’d written down last year so I wouldn’t forget. I had about five more goals on my list but I took them off. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself. I wanted to make sure to push myself a little but also make sure I could achieve them. Here is my list:

  • Go to at least two writing conferences this year
    1) Already registered for LDS Storymakers
  • Finish Letters to Ellie
    1) send out to beta readers
    2) send out for a final edit
  • Query to publishers and agents Letters to Ellie starting April
  • Get 100 new subscribers to my blog this year
  • Get to 10,000 hits on my blog this year
  • Go to as many book signings as I can this year to support local authors
  • Review as many books as I can for local authors
  • Enter some of my short stories for anthology submissions
  • Get to know the writing community in Utah
  • Make #authorchat #writerchat a big success on Tuesday nights from 9pm-10pm MST
  • Write in my writing journal once a week
  • Attend at least three writing retreats this year with my writing group
  • Begin writing down my father’s story

So writing friends, what are your goals for 2013?

These are such great goals 🙂

I need to do this as well: “Get to know the writing community in Utah.”

Elisa, I was able to begin working on that goal today. I went to the Salt Lake City Library where they are having a month long series about Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I had the chance to meet the great Tracy and Julie Hickman. And their lecture was awesome. I came home with some great ideas.
