#IWSG Introductions and Goals

It’s been over a year since I’ve participated in the Insecure Writers Support Group monthly blog. I am so excited to be back. The first Wednesday of each month bloggers post about their fears, triumphs, questions, etc. having to do with writing. It’s a great community. If you are interested in participating, check out the rules on their website.

iwsg_logoSince it’s a new year, we’ve been asked to introduce ourselves and share our writing goals for 2015. My name is Rebekah Grow and I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I’ve been kicking around stories in my head since I was in third grade. I love to write poetry, short stories, and I am working on my first novel Letters For Ellie.

I started a writing group with a few friends about eleven years ago and while it’s had several exits and entrances, we are still going strong. Several members have gone on to be published traditionally as well as being self-published. I’ve been blogging for over three years now and I love sharing writing tips as I research my own questions. I love meeting new people via Twitter, Facebook, and attending writing conferences. I have found the community of writers to be very kind and helpful in Utah where I live.

The goals I have this year are very similar to the ones I made last year. I had my third baby last year and my goals for writing and a lot of other things went out the window. Three kids are a handful to say the least. The word I have chosen to use this year TRUST. I need to trust in my writing skills and when inspiration hits to believe in it. I want to polish my writing skills and work with my critique group to do it. I need to take time during the day to focus on my writing. Whether that is a time daily or several days throughout the week. I want to be more involved online in the writing community and share what I’ve learned and learn from others. I hope to meet a lot of new people this year. I want to read 40 books. That is my goal on Goodreads so I hope I can make it this year. And finally, I am going to publish my book this fall.

I am looking forward to this new year and all of its possibilities. Good luck to all of you with your writing goals this year.
