E is for e-books

letter-e-iconE is for e-books. As you all know I love to read. I love books. I have stacks of them by my bedside. I have shelves full of them. I have boxes waiting at my dad’s full of them as well. I will never stop buying physical books because I just love to hold them in my hand and smell the pages. January of this year was the first time I’d ever purchased an e-book.

While having kids that last few years I was out of the the whole book scene and e-books really emerged. I wondered when or if I would ever buy one. If you are an Indie author then this may be the only way they are selling them so of course I will purchase it. It’s also a great way to read a book you’ve heard about but are not sure you want to spend the $15 or so dollars to buy the book. Then if you like it, you can buy the rest of their books. At least that is what I am using it for.

I think this is a great way to market your book. I’ve seen a rise in short stories published as e-books now. A great way for you to get to know the writer.

I’ve also seen a lot of specials going on for FREE books. I’ve stocked up on those especially for my kids. I think the only drawback is that I cannot share my e-book with a neighbor or friend like I can a physical book. But perhaps I am wrong and there is a way. If so, please let me know.

I thought I’d put some links here for e-books that I have read and loved. There is a mixture of both Indie and traditionally published authors. What are your thoughts on e-books?

So nice of you to share your faves. I am sure the authors will appreciate the extra bump in traffic!

As far as I understand, you can share an e-book once for up to two (or maybe it was three) weeks. That’s with a Kindle. I’m not sure of the other e-readers. I “loaned” a book to a friend last year by sending it to her email address. She was able to pick it up, read it on her Kindle app, and “return” it when she was done. During the time it was out on loan, I could not access the book through my Kindle. As far as I understood at the time, my e-reader said I could only do that once per book.

    Maybe that helps?

Thank you so much for the information Alana! Right after I did this post a friend of mine asked to borrow an e-book of mine. I still haven’t tried it yet but I am so glad you can. Thank you again!
