#atozchallenge 2016: A is for Abandonment

Abandonment is the action or fact of abandoning or being abandoned. Abandon is to leave and never return to (someone who needs protection or help, to leave and never return to (something), or to leave (a place) because of danger.

Being a paranormal investigator can be pretty rewarding and quite frightening at times. Quite often in this business we witness some pretty crazy stuff and I don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to abandon the situation and just run away. We’ve all seen those movies like The Amityville Horror, The Conjuring, Paranormal Activity, etc. with this classic scenario. A family moves to a new place or they haven’t been there for too long and strange stuff begins to happen. Mostly it’s the children who are vulnerable to the spirit or the demon that is trying to cause havoc in their lives. Spirits can be attached to objects or a place. Mostly it’s because they met their end due to murder or a tragic accident. The spirit or demon constantly beats down the family by throwing objects, bruising their bodies, whisperings in the night and sometimes, total possession. This is where the abandonment comes in. In each situation it happens differently. With one, the family abandons the home and the belongings and just leaves. In another, the husband is murdered and the spouse abandons the home because of possession. You can find all kinds of variations in books and cinema today.

On the other hand, the spirit or demon can abandon the premises as well. Take for instance The Conjuring. Ed and his wife did an exorcism to help expel the evil spirit. We’ll talk about more ways to communicate during a paranormal situation on Monday when we talk about the letter C.

If I can leave you with one piece of advice it would be this. You will know when you should abandon a place because of the way it makes you feel. Run! Get out! If it’s an evil feeling, never return. Cleansing’s are nice but I would rather start with a clean slate and from scratch moving forward from a situation.

NOTE: Letters for this blog challenge were borrowed from a Pinterest board. Thank you Katrina for assembling these awesome letters from the web.

Thanks for dropping by Diane. It’s been fun creating the characters and getting advice from them. I am only halfway through the alphabet at this time so I have no idea how it will end. Good luck in the A to Z too! I will come by and visit your site.

  2. Your theme is linked to paranormal investigations? Interesting. 🙂
